Camera Kazi »

camera-kazi

I don’t know where Camera Kazi came from. Canberra is too small to stay hidden and I managed to come across them only by accident. They’re two local kids who, as far as I know, are still at high school. The man behind the keyboards is Daniel Morrison, the not so local chameleon who now plays as False Jesii. He has been doing Camera Kazi for a little while now with vocalist Lital Elkoubi. Unfortunately it seems the band is no more.

Masquerade Affairs »

Masquerade Affairs

Masquerade Affairs were an alternative rock band based in Canberra from 2006 to 2007. Masquerade Affairs wrote a number of brooding, melodic rock songs which draw a heavy influence from post-rock and avante-garde rock. The bands influences shine through on these tracks with a mixture of post-grunge and atmospheric pop. Check it out.

are-the-brave-all-dead

Are The Brave All Dead were an indie-rock band from Canberra, Australia from 2001-2008.  Its members are Andy Campell (vocals), Alex Alcazar (guitar), Lachlan Thomas (bass) and Dominic Shanahan (drums).

During their time together they released one self titled E.P recorded with Tony Dupe (Cat Power, Holly Throsby) and their song “children of the night” experienced Triple J airplay as part of the Unearthed Competition. They supported national acts Midnight Juggernauts, Dappled Cities Fly, Koolism and Soft Tigers.

This download is of their 2006 self titled and independently released E.P. recorded in the Kangaroo Valley N.S.W at Heavy Studios. This release is the culmination of the early years and songs of the band.

Golden Buoy »

Golden-Buoy

Golden Buoy were a band based in Canberra for about a year around 2007. These three tracks blend a number of different sounds;  tribal beach-punk with apocalyptic surf guitar, blaring over the fuzzed bass, and all drawn together in synth lines which make me want to pull out Dr Dre’s The Chronic.
