Dominic Death »

Dominic Shanahan, best known as the charismatic lead singer of The Fighting League, has launched his solo side project/alter ego Dominic Death. Foregoing the bells and whistles of a full band, Dominic Death creates introspective ballads that come across as a kind of folk-punk somewhere between Billy Bragg and Elvis Costello. “River of Gold” proves that Dominic can howl with the best of them.

TV Colours »
TV Colours, previously known to some as Basketball Cards, is currently prepping his debut 7″ to come out on Dream Damage Records in the coming months. The Kids Are All Grown Up is the only track we have been able to get our hands on so far and it is easily the best thing we have heard all year. Peaked guitars and an overdriven drum machine back Bobby Kill’s depressing and nostalgic lyrics. Look out for big things from TV Colours this year.

Hoodlum Shouts »

“Enter Hoodlum Shouts who defy cyclical trends with their debut EP Horses and Human Hands. With what we believe is a contribution, rather than trend, to the affectionately nicknamed era I call ‘Australian-post-colonial-punk’. This release would have recognisable past and present bands like The Birthday Party, The Stabs, The Triffids, (early) Hunters & Collectors, Midnight Oil and The Drones (if the majority of these bands had died in their primes) turning excitedly in their graves.” (Birds Love Fighting)
Check out the track History’s End from the Horses and Humans Hands EP, which you can pick up from Landspeed Records in Canberra or from Missing Link in Melbourne.
