Totally Autumn is the seasonal follow up to the successful Summer Vibes Festival. So on Saturday April 9th, Newcastle will again be buzzing with some of Australia’s best bands. Headlining the festival will be Eat Skull (USA), a totally rad four piece from Portland Oregon who are touring the country in April (they’re also playing in Canberra on the Sunday night). Joining them will be My Disco (Melb) off the back of their recent tour of Japan and Slug Guts (Bris) who have just released a new LP on US label Sacred Bones. Canberra’s own TV Colours will be playing a solo show in a lead up to his debut LP out on Dream Damage later in the year and The Fighting League who have a 7″ coming out soon. Tickets are available online, so grab one and come along for a day of relaxed vibes, good beer and a shit load of amazing music.
For full details on the festival and how to buy tickets head to totallyautumn.org.

Danger Beach & TV Colours – Prom Night
Crash the Curb – How to Fall
I didn’t make it to this show but managed to track down some videos (None of Mornings i’m afraid). I’ve heard some really good things about both sets from Mornings and Crash the Curb – Hopefully I can catch them soon. Danger Beach has been writing songs for a new split EP with Animals Revenge. Prom Night, might be on there.

“Zack Kouns is from some small town in the US. He plays music with voice, tenor and alto saxophone, clarinet, trumpet, temple blocks, chinese opera gong, tape manipulation, violin, banjo. It’s weird shit, some dark neofolky gothic shit, some totally fucked up noise, some angular no-wavey shit, some Leadbellyesque blues and Woody Guthrie folk, some beautiful piano ballads, and plenty of free jazz all through it. He exists in a realm somewhere near Jandek, I suppose – completely outside of everything, and basically impossible to compare to everything. You can download one of his whole albums free here” (Cut and paste straight from the mouth of Alps aka Chris Hearn)
Zack Kouns will be touring the country with Alps as support over the next few weeks. They will be ending the tour in Canberra at Smiths Alternative Bookstore on Saturday the 31st so come along and pick up a copy of the tour 7″.

Teddy Trouble »

Formed from members of Golden Buoy and The Fighting League, Teddy Trouble’s distinctive sound with blaring twelve string guitars and space echo on the bass are some of the best jams out. They’re back after a summer break to play shows and hopefully record an album, I managed to find these two early demos – I don’t even know the proper titles – so i’ll let you decide.
