New mix tape from local artist Wandering Bear who creates electronic music ranging from trip hop to IDM to Drum and Bass. He is proving to be quite eclectic in terms of his output and I was surprised to find that he lives in Canberra. Richie Dick Nixon, man behind the synth in The Fighting League has been living and studying in the US for the last six months. He has also been recording for the project Ghost Patrol and I got a copy of his new EP a few weeks ago. Its a nice combination of synth heavy trip hop, blending elements of 90s electronica and abstract noise. Solid debut.

More Wizard Of Oz references with Wizard Oz, an experimental two piece out of Melbourne. I recently got a copy of their hand made EP, and you can too if you contact them at their myspace (its like a quieter version of Here Comes the Indian). Strung together with fleeting electronics, entwined vocal harmonies and tribal beats, the track No Hurry has a sparseness that works to melt away the summer days.

The Death Posture is the second full length album by Jonny Telafone. The Death Posture is a trip down a black hole into the dream pop shoegazing soundscapes of Jonny Telafone’s demise. Synth-pop love ballads which are reminiscent of the melancholy feedback of The Jesus and Mary Chain blended with the minimal synth drones of Salem or Telepathe.

I don’t know where Camera Kazi came from. Canberra is too small to stay hidden and I managed to come across them only by accident. They’re two local kids who, as far as I know, are still at high school. The man behind the keyboards is Daniel Morrison, the not so local chameleon who now plays as False Jesii. He has been doing Camera Kazi for a little while now with vocalist Lital Elkoubi. Unfortunately it seems the band is no more.
