Waterford »

waterford

Waterford are preparing to launch their new album next month. Mixed by Bruce Callaway (previously of The Saints), the first single London, England is now available for free download via Birds Love Fighting. This is the first of many releases soon to come out on the Canberra label with Killing Birds, From the South and Cat Cat all having new material ready to be pressed over the next few months. The future looks promising for Birds Love Fighting with Electric Lake 2 also going ahead in October.

For now you can now download the fantastic single London, England; the launch party for the single is on the 24 July at The Front Gallery.

Suica »

Suica

New kids on the block Suica (pronounced soo-ee-ka) have been lurking in the shadows for the better half of the year and have finally released their first demo called Brother. A beautifully haunting track reminiscent of GY!BE and Mogwai. Suica are preparing to play their first show next week at The Front alongside Danger Beach and Readymen for our Dream Damage Fundraiser.

Graveyards »

grave

Graveyards started up last summer under the short lived title Beat Hotel. After some line up changes and a handful of shows they are starting to settle and find their sound. A few of these guys spawned the previously posted Foucault’s Whip and the always epic BHANG YARNDI, and I’m probably wrong but I think lead singer Julian was in with False Jesii (…maybe for a day?). These boys get around.

Foucaults Whip »

Brand new jam from Foucault’s Whip. I have no idea whether this is a long term thing or just another one night stand but this track totally rules.

Wandering Bear »

New mix tape from local artist Wandering Bear who creates electronic music ranging from trip hop to IDM to Drum and Bass. He is proving to be quite eclectic in terms of his output and I was surprised to find that he lives in Canberra. This compilation spans a few of his previous releases which can be viewed and listened to HERE.

Readymen »

ready

Here is the new collaboration from the guitarists of Teddy Trouble and Emerald Cities called Readymen. With subtle hints of dark folk and early 60s pop, the two have woven their styles into something both warm and unsettling. The dueling guitars and chilling chorus make this one of the more interesting things to come from Canberra in a while. Plan on seeing more of these guys as I hear they are working on a live show and will be playing soon.
