Grab a copy of the 18th September issue of UK magazine NME for an article on Dream Damage Records that makes mention of artists Assassins 88, TV Colours and Danger Beach!
“Australia sure has its fair share of Dullsvilles, but capital city Canberra takes the biscuit. However, a bunch of young bands linked with the local Dream Damage label have been contorting their inner-city suburban snoozing into ultra-distorted ’50′s-influenced pop gems that straddle both a very Australian interest in grunged-out rawk and a gleefully yanky-doodle punk hedonism. Assassins 88 helm this torn-flannel-and-Letterman-jacketed brigade with their Ramonesy teen thrills: under-two-minute-jams, full-on harmony and wild-eyed riffage. TV Colours and their baseball card brand of garage screw with bubblegum pop even more, while Danger Beach rep more shimmering kinds of feedback in their meditative experementalism; one foot in the highschool cafeteria, the other on the beach.”

After two shows in Sydney last weekend, the Assassins/TV Colours show are heading down to Melbourne to play a Missing Link instore (playing Danger Beach/TV Colours sets) on Friday the 27th and then at Yah Yahs (with Fake Tan) on the Saturday night.
Earlier this month, we found out that their split 7″ would be delayed until December. So we have reissued the Go Go Second Chance Virgin cassette. There are 50 copies available with new artwork and new tracks.
From early September, the label will be going on a short hiatus. I’m heading overseas and can’t continue until I come back. The blog will continue to post on local music and events but be sure to keep an eye out for other Canberra labels Birds Love Fighting and Hello Square Recordings who have some great things coming up in the next few months. As for Dream Damage, stay tuned for a new website and a number of new releases coming early 2011.

This Sunday, Teddy Trouble will officially launch their debut EP The Great Indoors (and they have been kind enough to give up the first two tracks of the EP for download!) This is a very limited pressing and only 50 copies will be available on the night. It all starts at around 6pm at The Phoenix – FREE ENTRY. Supporting will be Jonny Telafone and Old Ace with more to be announced.
Any copies left can be purchased online or at selected record stores.
